For some reason these days it is hard to find age appropriate, dressier clothing for young children.
When my daughter turned three I visited a well known department store’s children s department looking for slips for my young daughter.
I needed something to go under her dresses for church. Most importantly I needed slips for her summer dresses. Her dresses came below her knees but being light summer dresses they needed a lining.
This store that shall remain unnamed brought me two slips they had in stock. The only two they carried. Mind you they carried high end children’s clothing which is why I went there for slips. The more medium department stores did not carry children’s slips at all!
The first slip they brought me was a half slip that looked more like a belt. Not only that it had no waist. It was $14 and was just this tube with no waist. I kind of looked at it and said, “no thank you”. The second slip was a full slip. A lace stretch top with a skirt. For the size above my daughter, who wears her age size exactly so this was a 4 at the time. I'm telling you all of this so that you will know that this should have been a little big for her. On the contrary the skirt part of the slip did not cover her bottom! What good was that? Remember her skirts come below her knees.
I sat on this frustration for a year. In the mean time she wore bloomers but in the sunnier months these can be kind of hot. They were cute but kind of heavy.
Doing my research online I discovered many darling boutiques with young girls slips. Mostly they were a) patterns you sew yourself...NOT b) Give them your size and they will sew. Nice but I was looking for off the rack c) Full reproduction victorian era slips that had way too much happening.
Finally I landed on Rosy Bear Boutique. I placed an order for 3 slips. 2 her size now and one down the line. I placed the order on Sunday evening certainly not expecting it in time for next week’s service and low and behold that following Saturday there was my package complete with cute stickers for my daughter.
The slips are darling and just what I ordered. I’m very happy and will buy again. I noticed some cute bloomers. Simple little girl slips for a modest dress.
