Infant Only Car Seats:
- These types of baby car seats are made for your very new very tiny baby.
- Starting at holding 5 pounds they are rear facing and angled to provide optimal breathing for your baby while riding in the car.
- Please note that preemie babies may not do well in this type of car seat. Check with your doctor. Preemie baby’s need to pass a car seat test before being released from the hospital. They may need a car bed.
Convertible Car Seats:
- These car seats go from carrying your newborn infant to your older baby and sometimes your toddler.
- They move from rear facing to front facing and the straps also adjust to fit at the correct height as your child is growing.
- You usually cannot attach these to a stroller system so it makes transfer of your tiny baby to a stroller a little more time consuming.
- If you’re into carry your baby in a sling or front carrier then these are a good purchase for your growing infant
Car Seat Stroller Systems:
- This is where your baby can stay in the car seat and you just transfer the car seat and lock it onto the stroller.
- These are very convenient for mom but take care that you don’t leave baby too long in that car seat.
- With the handle and easy transfer it’s easy to forget your baby longs for loving arms.
- We had one of these and I loved the convenience. BUT as baby outgrew the car seat and then the car seat became outdated it was no longer the convenience it once was. The stroller itself is still in excellent shape.
Booster Seat:
- This is the chair you will use for your child until they outgrow car seats.
- Normally without a back, although at first you may use one. This assures that the shoulder straps in your car reach at the right point on your child’s shoulders.
