Dressing Baby for the Summer Weather
They all look so cute in the store and online. Duckies, Noah’s ark, pinks and blues. Baby clothes are just too darling. But depending upon the time of year that your baby is born, and the climate where you live, there are many things to take into consideration when it comes to dressing your baby.
For dressing babies in the summer overheating is not the only concern. Baby's skin is very sensitive to the sun. You will not only want to apply sunscreen to your baby’s delicate skin but also keep a towel or blanket over the baby's carriage or bassinet as you are out and about during the summer.
And is another great way to keep the sun from harming your baby.
Use umbrellas and pop up tents to protect baby at the beach and playing in the back yard or park. Make sure there is plenty of ventilation but little to no sun—that way your baby won’t get sunburned or have to squint at the bright sun rays.
For everyday summer wear, one piece bodysuits that are made of a lightweight cotton are a great alternative to pants and shirts. They allow baby to move and are very comfortable. You can also fold a few to carry along in baby’s diaper bag for emergencies.
The nice thing about summer for baby is no shoes required. Baby is not walking and riding in a stroller or carrier leaves the baby fresh toesies out to air. Baby shoes can run a pretty penny and putting off that extra cost is a bonus.
And finally. Even though it is summer it makes sense to keep and extra blanket around for a shift in the temperature. Whether you are going into an air conditioned building or the day shifts to overcast and windy your baby’s skin is a lot more sensitive to the temperature so be prepared
