Your sweet little one can come up with some pretty stinky laundry. Although it’s extremely tempting to buy perfumed up laundry detergent and softeners for doing your tiny peanut’s laundry use precaution when it comes to their duds. Here are some tips for keeping your little one’s duds smelling and looking great.
Stains and Pre-treating
Organic stains from baby food and diaper mishaps can stain baby’s clothing pretty badly. When it’s a big accident that needs an immediate change don’t just dump the soiled clothing in the hamper. Remove as much of whatever it is as possible. Run cold water over the stain to further remove it. You may also give the article a good soak. I’ve had excellent success using Oxiclean to remove impossible stains such as grape juice. Wash the offending clothing in cold water and check for stain removal before putting in the dryer. For preventative measures each night when you change baby go over their clothing with a stain pre-treat. I like Ecover for this.
Detergent
Your baby’s delicate skin can have an allergic reaction to some of the perfumes and dyes in many laundry detergents and fabric softeners. Instead choose a baby friendly laundry detergent, and these days you’ll find many, formulated with your little one in mind...Baby Laundry Detergents
Fabric Softener
Also when washing your baby’s sleep clothing don’t use fabric softeners. Manufactures have been specially making baby’s sleep attire to be flame retardant and the fabric softener can reduce the effectiveness of the retardant.
