Diaper Changing 101

By the time your baby is a few months old you will be an old hand at changing diapers. As icky as the process is changing baby's diaper is still a moment of bonding. I've gotten my sweetest smiles over the changing table.

Supplies

  • changing pad
  • clean diapers
  • diaper wipes or cloths
  • diaper rash or barrier cream
  • clean change of clothing
  • diaper pail

Change baby often. It’s great for your baby’s skin and your sensitive nose. First thing in the morning. After a nap. Shortly after a feed and before taking a nap or going to bed.

Method

  1. Have all your supplies at the read.
  2. Wash your hands before tending to baby.
  3. Lay baby on the changing pad.
  4. Remove clothing covering your baby’s bottom. Unless your baby has soiled through to the clothing you can just move any bottoms out of the way.
  5. Undo the diaper and use the sides of it to wipe up excess excrement.
  6. Fold up the used diaper and toss it into the diaper pail.
  7. Use a diaper cloth or diaper wipe to clean your baby thoroughly. Use as many as needed.
  8. Put the clean diaper under your baby’s bottom and apply diaper cream as needed.
  9. Close up diaper and fully dress your baby.

Voila!
